External wall insulation is an insulating method that consists of fixing insulation boards to the outside of the building, reinforcing it with a mesh, a base coat and a final decorative finish. The system encases the building and helps to prevent heat loss.
Buildings constructed with single skin walls, solid wall construction, steel or timber framed buildings and prefabricated concrete panels are particularly suited to external wall insulation, as they cannot be insulated with cavity wall insulation.
